What The Recursive Reports
In an article published by The Recursive in August 2026, Etien Yovchev profiles Irisphera and its co-founder and CEO, Antonia Dumitriu, a former stylist from Romania. The platform went live in September 2025 after four years of development.
Irisphera’s entry into the Gulf began almost by chance, through a colleague’s trip to a conference. Antonia says “the response was immediate”, and that deals in the region moved much faster than in Europe.
Trust and Privacy
She stresses that trust is built face to face: “It’s B2B on paper, but in practice, it’s human to human, right?”
Because some markets, especially Saudi Arabia, are cautious about sharing photos, Irisphera added features such as face blurring. Antonia explains that the company neither stores shopper images nor trains on them: “The data is ephemeral.”
The article also reports the figures Irisphera shared in August 2026: 12 markets, more than 100,000 products processed, over 50,000 virtual try-ons and more than 45,000 styling recommendations.
